Why might an order fail?

Smartpay's decision of whether or not to approve an order is based on an automated assessment. This approval process helps Smartpay safely and responsibly offer a completely free service to shoppers. Please understand that Smartpay's Customer Service is not able to change the outcome of the approval decision, nor provide additional details.

While Smartpay considers a number of different factors when determining which orders get approved, the most common reasons why approval might fail include:

  • the shopper exhausted their Smartpay balance

  • the shopper did not have sufficient funds on their card at time of checkout

  • the shopper entered their card details incorrectly
